LG-CTH External Coiled Tubing Hanger

Control Automatic Coiled Tubing Hanger (CTH) is an innovative design which incorporates positive set slip assembly for the suspension of a coiled tubing string. It also incorporates a hydraulic packing spool assembly is energized and affects a positive annular seal on the coiled tubing string.

The existing tree cap assembly is removed and the coiled tubing hanger assembly is installed on top of the tree. Next, a coiled tubing BOP and hydraulic injection unit is installed. The coiled tubing is injected through the hanger and into the well to the proper depth. The tubing is then suspended by engaging the LG-CTH slip assembly and applying downward hydraulic force via the injection unit.

The upper and lower Rod Seals form a positive isolation seal on the coiled tubing. This seal can be verified via an injection port located above the seal carrier. In the even a positive seal is not attained, the rod seals can be eternally energized via the injection located between the upper and lower rod seals.

The LG-CTH is widely accepted by many oil companies for the suspension of coiled tubing to unload or clean up water buildup in gas wells. It is available with threaded or flanged connections to 10,000 psi and for tubing sizes 1” through 6-5/8”. There is also available an internal unit for use in standard 7-1/16” and 11” tubing head bowls.
